Can you take walk-ins?

We would love to talk walk-in appointments at Ink Jam, but many days Jim and Lauren are already booked up in advance. If you can, making an appointment in advance is the best way to set up time to get your tattoo.

How do I make an appointment at Ink Jam?

Give us a call at 781-316-2393 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to set up a consultation, which usually takes about 10 or 15 minutes.

Can I bring in a picture or idea of what I'd like? What if I'm not sure?

It's helpful if you have an idea of what you'd like for your tattoo and where you'd like it placed. If you have any references, printouts, etc of subject, style, color, or font please bring those in with you. Be open to suggestions from your artist. We know what makes the best tattooable images, what ages well, and what will work best on your body. We're happy to work together with you to craft your ideas into an awesome piece of body art.

How long will my tattoo take?

During your consultation, we will give you an idea of how long your tattoo will take to complete. Some small tattoos are less than half an hour. Some large pieces will require several sessions, with healing time in between.

What will my tattoo cost?

We offer competitive prices so you can get a beautiful tattoo without breaking the bank. There is a $100 minimum and most tattoos cost about $150 per hour. Tribal tattoos (solid black and/or color) and tattoos in difficult locations cost $200 per hour. Most of the time, your artist will modify or redraw your image in order to make it work for your tattoo. Ink Jam charges a non-refundable $20 required drawing fee for each drawing.

What payment methods are accepted?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, and cash. If you choose to pay with a credit card for one of Lauren's tattoos, your bill will be split into two transactions. (any statements/receipts with Lauren will read: SPECTRUM ART AND DESIGN, INC. (ink jam tattoo, sleeperhollow.com) If you prefer to pay in cash, there is an ATM conveniently located in the Peter Pan on the corner of the block.

What if I have to cancel my appointment?

Please let us know at least 48 hours in advance. A last-minute cancellation or no-call/no-show will require you to leave a $150 deposit to reschedule your appointment. This deposit goes toward the cost of your tattoo, unless there is a second last-minute cancellation or no-call/no-show, in which case your deposit will be forfeited

Treat your new tattoo as you would an open wound. Keep it clean. Only touch healing tattoos with clean hands. Before cleaning the tattooed area, wash hands thoroughly with antibacterial soap and water.

Carefully remove the gauze bandage and tape. If the gauze sticks, use a small amount of warm water to remove it. Do not rip it off. As soon as you remove the dressing, wash the tattoo thoroughly but gently with warm water and antibacterial soap. Do not pick or wipe off any scabs, whether the scab is wet or dry. The area will be tender, but it is important to remove any dried blood and fluids. This is one of the most important steps in the area of your tattoo. When the tattoo has been thoroughly cleaned, gently pat it dry of old ointment or fluids with a clean towel and allow it to be exposed to the air for 10 minutes.

After cleaning and allowing your tattoo to air-dry for 10 minutes, massage a small amount of antibacterial ointment (such as Bacitracin, Neomycin-Polymyxin) into the tattoo. Gently rub the product in well, ensuring that it has all been absorbed and creates a thin layer which moisturizes the entire tattoo. Repeat cleansing and application of the antibiotic ointment 2-4 times a day for 3 days. After 3 days, switch to unscented fragrance-free body moisturizer (such as Eucerin or Lubriderm).

Avoid sunburn, salt or chlorinated pool water, hot tubs, saunas, and steam baths while tattoo is healing. Itching is expected, but do not scratch the tattoo.

The approximate healing time for tattoos is 7-14 days. Human bodies are highly individual and healing times can vary. Your tattoo should not hurt much worse than a sunburn. If your tattoo causes more pain than a sunburn, please contact your tattooist and a doctor immediately.

Follow these instructions carefully and you will have a crisp, bright tattoo for the rest of your life. Disregard them and it will not heal or look as well as it should. If you are not sure about the way your tattoo is healing, give us a call or stop by and let us evaluate your tattoo's progress. Sometimes even a well cared for tattoo may need a small touch-up. Touch-ups may be needed for an area that did not heal well or needs a little more color added. The tattoo will need at least 2 weeks to heal prior to any touch-ups.

Your tattoo will be applied with sterile equipment and with non-toxic color inks. We guarantee the workmanship. Healing and caring for your new tattoo is YOUR responsibility.
